Matthijs de Ligt has resumed group training at Bayern Munich. The day after the resounding 6-1 victory over Werder Bremen, he appeared at the training complex with the rest of the selection. “The knee feels fine”, De Ligt said afterwards BILD know. The defender was injured on October 29 in the home game against FSV Mainz 05.

Last Friday, trainer Julian Nagelsmann reported that De Ligt was dealing with a relapse in his recovery due to a reaction in the knee joint. The defender therefore did not play against Werder Bremen. Last Monday, Nagelsmann came back from those words and was hopeful about the recovery of his pupil. “I am convinced that De Ligt can come into action again against Schalke 04 (next Saturday, ed.),” said the coach.

Twitter images show how De Ligt is active on the training field on Wednesday. This season, the mandekker came to seventeen games of the Rekordmeister in all competitions in which he scored one goal. He has already missed four games for his new club due to injuries. Last month, De Ligt dropped out against Borussia Dortmund with a groin injury. At the end of October, in the 6-2 win against Mainz, he had to give up the fight again due to knee problems.

Next Saturday, Bayern will face Schalke 04 in Gelsenkirchen. The chance that De Ligt will get playing minutes is very likely, given Nagelsmann’s earlier words. The resumption of group training is also good news for the the Dutch. In twelve days, the Dutch national team will play against Senegal at the World Cup in Qatar. De Ligt’s teammate at Bayern, the Senegalese star player Sadio Mane, will then be missing due to an injury. L’Équipe came with that news on Wednesday morning.
