If Manchester City manage to win the treble again this season, Pep Guardiola will retire. The Manchester City coach announced this after the Premier League match lost 1-0 against Aston Villa. The Citizens have had a difficult time in the English league so far this season, resulting in a disappointing fourth place.

So far, Guardiola's era in Manchester has been very successful. The Spaniard has won the Premier League, FA Cup and EFL Cup several times with City. In addition, the Champions League was conquered for the first time last season.

However, this season has been difficult. In the competition, City has currently not won four games in a row: against Chelsea (4-4), Liverpool (1-1), Tottenham Hotspur (3-3) and Aston Villa (1-0). As a result, the club is now six points behind leader Arsenal.

After the match against Aston Villa, Guardiola stood Amazon Prime to speak. “The better team won, they were better,” the manager said. “We are in a difficult phase and we have to get back on top of it. It is my job to find a solution. It was not the attitude of the players, Villa were simply the better team.”

If City still manages to win the Champions League, national title and FA Cup this season, just like last season, Guardiola will quit. “If we win the treble again this year, I will retire, that's for sure. We'll take it from game to game. Thinking about titles at this stage of the season? Forget it, that's a big mistake.”

Next Sunday, City will try again to get three points. The team will then visit Luton Town. That match starts at 3:00 PM.
