Achraf Hakimi says he is ‘surprised’ by the way Lionel Messi is behaving at Paris Saint-Germain. The wing back of les Parisiens describes Messi’s behavior as ‘simple and quiet’. Hakimi continues in an interview with L’Equipe that a dream has come true through the current partnership with Messi.

“It wasn’t that hard to build a rapport with him on the pitch. I give him the ball, run and he puts it where it belongs,” says Hakimi, for whom PSG paid sixty million euros last summer. Messi came over from Barcelona on a free transfer and, partly due to a knee injury, only played three official games. However, the Argentine attacker is fit in time for the Champions League match against Manchester City, which is scheduled for Tuesday.

“I was surprised by the way Messi behaved: simple and quiet,” Hakimi continues about the collaboration with Messi. “I didn’t expect Messi to leave Barcelona like just about everyone else. When I heard he was coming here… What can I say? It’s a dream for me! I’ve played with so many great players and the only one missing was Messi. I am very proud to be able to play with a player like Messi.”

“I will pay close attention to his way of training and playing to develop myself. The whole team will grow from that, every player will pick up something from that. We speak the same language and get to know each other little by little”, concludes Hakimi. The full-back – born and raised in Spain, but international for Morocco – has so far scored three goals and two assists in ten games for PSG.
