Supporters of sc Heerenveen have bought a full-page advertisement in the Leeuwarder Courant tuesday morning. The reason is the dismissal of trainer Johnny Jansen, who was put out on the street by the club management of the Frisian club yesterday. In the advertisement, the fans are addressing general manager Cees Roozemond, technical manager Ferry de Haan and the Supervisory Board.

Journalist Sander de Vries van de Leeuwarder Courant calls the ad on Twitter “very remarkable.” “Dear Cees, Ferry and RvC, it is not only up to Johnny or his players. Greetings, supporters of our club who do have a pompeblêd heart and are familiar with the history of the club and its standards and values,” reads the text of the supporters. The advertisement was still put together in the late hours of Monday evening, as Heerenveen came out at half past eight with the news that the collaboration with Jansen has ended.

“The game image of the last matches gave too little confidence for improvement and has made the club decide to end the cooperation with immediate effect,” the club concluded. “These are hard and difficult choices to make,” said Ferry de Haan. “Johnny is a real club man and has meant a lot to SC Heerenveen in various positions. That makes this choice even more difficult. We are now considering the succession and hope to be able to provide clarity on this soon.”

SC Heerenveen is reportedly looking for another position for Jansen. There is a chance that he will again play an important role in the youth academy, as he did before. Jansen held various positions in the club’s youth academy until 2014, before becoming an assistant to the first team. The former midfielder worked alongside Dwight Lodeweges, Foppe de Haan, Jurgen Streppel and Jan Olde Riederink; At the end of the 2018/19 season, Jansen took over from the latter.
