Professional football has informed the cabinet that it does not agree with an occupancy rate of one third in the stadiums, the KNVB reports in a joint statement. On Monday it was announced that the empty stadiums will most likely end from Wednesday, but if it is up to the 34 directors of the clubs in professional football, the KNVB, the Keuken Kampioen Division and the Eredivisie CV, it will be scaled up quickly.

The cabinet’s decision, which will probably be ratified during the press conference on Tuesday evening, is accompanied by very strict conditions, as only one third of the capacity of the stadiums may be used. The stadiums in the Eredivisie and Keuken Kampioen Division have been empty since Friday 12 November. “It is a proposal without perspective”, is the opinion of the professional football clubs. “It is impossible to explain to the supporters, it only increases the unrest among the supporters and, moreover, it costs the clubs hands full of money again.”

It seems that stadiums, just like the catering and cultural sector, will have to deal with a closing time of 10 p.m. For that reason, the KNVB will probably not allow games to start after 8 p.m., so that the closing time can be met. The intention is to start working with the corona ticket (3G) again. “We are constructive and want to think along in solutions. For us it is only acceptable to start with 1/3 if we can switch to at least 2/3 occupancy from 4 February.”

Professional football believes that such a thing can be organized responsibly. “With everything that goes with it. And from there we want to work quickly towards full stadiums. We assume that the cabinet will respond to this call.” Ajax – Go Ahead Eagles on Sunday 7 November was the last match at the highest level in the Netherlands that was played in front of the public. The Eredivisie will be suspended this weekend due to an international break, but the Kitchen Champion Division will continue. It is expected that spectators will be welcome again for the first time at the match between TOP Oss and FC Den Bosch on Friday.
