Jon Dahl Tomasson is one of the candidates to succeed Arne Slot at Feyenoord in the long term. The Feyenoord watcher reports this in the Dick Voormekaar Podcast by Football International. Tomasson was under contract for two periods at De Kuip in the past and is currently head coach of Blackburn Rovers.

Slot was in the explicit interest of Leeds United at the beginning of February. The Whites officially reported to general manager Dennis te Kloese to discuss a transfer of the 44-year-old coach, but then received no response. Slot is still under contract with Feyenoord until mid-2025.

Should Slot decide to leave next summer, Tomasson is a candidate to succeed him, according to Krabbendam. “What I understand is that he is on a list at Feyenoord to succeed Arne Slot,” says the journalist. Football International. “Tomasson has of course been successful at Malmö, has made them champions and knows Feyenoord. Feyenoord must of course be working on this now.”

Michel van Egmond also sees 46-year-old Tomasson as an ideal candidate. ”I don’t think it’s a bad idea. He really knows what it takes to step up. He has also proven that as a footballer. Tomasson has sympathy with the outside world and the press. I don’t think it’s a bad idea. He’s not an easy guy to negotiate, he’s really going to make demands. Also in terms of investments.”

Tomasson was under contract with Feyenoord between 1998 and 2002 and between 2008 and 2011. Blackburn Rovers appointed the Dane as manager at the beginning of this season. Tomasson performs well and is in fourth place in the Championship after 34 rounds of play. Before joining Blackburn, he coached Malmö FF for two seasons. In Sweden he became champion of the Allsvenskan in both seasons.
