Many social media users find it incomprehensible that Barcelona is saying goodbye to Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann in a short time and on the other hand is getting a striker of De Jong’s caliber.

Visca el Barça!“, as can be read on Wednesday morning on the Twitter page of the brand new acquisition of the Catalans. De Jong will finish the season on a rental basis at the Camp Nou and Barcelona has also negotiated an option to buy the 31-year-old attacker. Koeman gave the green light to get De Jong because he is a different type of attacker than he already has with strikers like Depay and the still injured Aguero. The Barcelona coach also knows De Jong from their joint period with the Dutch national team and knows that his compatriot will not make a fuss about a role as a stand-in and/or pinch hitter at a club like Barcelona.
