Latest update:

Matías Soulé showed his best side on Friday night. The twenty-year-old Frosinone attacker, a target for Feyenoord last summer, scored a fabulous goal for Argentina Under 23 against Mexico's peers (4-2 win). X is lyrical about the hit and shares the images en masse.

The Argentinian promises played in a friendly match against Mexico on Friday night, as a practice at the Olympic Games. National coach Javier Mascherano placed Soulé in the starting line-up, alongside Thiago Almada, who was linked to Ajax in the summer.

Almada was the basis of what has kept X users buzzing since the early hours. However, Soulé gets – quite rightly – the credits.

The attacker finished in an almost unthinkable way after an attack set up by Almada. The latter played Joaquín García on the right, where the full-back made room for a cross. García brought the ball in and Soulé lobbed the ball with his instep past the stunned Mexican goalkeeper.

X-user @WesleyVictorMak says, among other things, that he has 'never seen anything like this before'. The Italian branch of Sky Sports calls it a 'gol da urlo': a great goal. The Argentinian medium Mundo Albiceleste goes one step further and even calls it a 'Puskas Contender'.

Whatever nickname he may be given: it was 2-0 in any case. Ultimately, the Argentinians won 4-2, partly due to a striking penalty from Almada. In addition to Soulé and Almada, Lucas Beltrán was accurate twice.

Feyenoord would have loved to bring Soulé to De Kuip last summer, but Frosninone ultimately prevailed. The Italian low-flyer rents the right winger for one season from Juventus, Soulé's actual boss. There, Soulé has played 21 matches (one goal) in the main squad so far. Frosinone has 27 games, ten goals and two assists.
