Latest update:

Shurandy Sambo's contract with PSV is nearing its end. According to Rik Elfrink of the Eindhovens Dagblad the 22-year-old right back can continue his career in different places. The journalist writes on Saturday morning that clubs from home and abroad are inquiring about Sambo, who is still waiting for clarity from Peter Bosz and PSV.

Sambo is still in the Philips Stadium until June 30, 2024. The wing defender has been allowed to talk to various clubs since January 1. On behalf of ED Elfrink will give an update on Sambo's situation on Saturday. “It is still not clear whether the Eindhoven club wants to extend Sambo's contract in the coming period.” Transfer market estimates its current market value at 2 million euros.

The guidelines of the collective labor agreement for contract players in professional football prescribe that clubs are obliged to inform players with an expiring contract before April 1 whether their contract will be formally terminated or whether any options will be explored.

According to Elfrink, that deadline seems harder than it is. “Even if PSV decides to terminate the contract as of April 1, a new contract period is still possible in theory. Afterwards, the parties can always sit down again.”

At an earlier stage, PSV tried to open and extend Sambo's contract, but a new deal was not reached. “It has been quiet on this front since then,” says Elfrink, who writes about a failed summer transfer to FC Twente.

Sambo could also leave PSV last winter, but Elfrink knows why he did not do so. “Sambo himself is focusing on winning the title with PSV in the coming months. There was also interest in him in the winter, but that was put aside in order to become champion.”

Sambo's dream of becoming a champion with his childhood sweetheart seems to be coming true soon. The right-hander has been with PSV since 2009. The counter now stands at thirteen games in the main force of the Eindhoven team.
