A Feyenoord supporter was hit by a flare on Thursday evening before the game against 1. FC Union Berlin (3-1), other supporters report via social media. The fan was located in Vak DD, at the far end of the Olympia stand on the long side. He would have been hit in the face by a rocket that was fired from the Gerard Meijer Tribune, behind the goal. The fan was taken to hospital with injuries.

Images are circulating on social media showing blood around the spot where the supporter was hit. Veronica Inside also publishes a screenshot showing an injured supporter grabbing his face. It is unclear how he is doing now. Before the match, Feyenoord’s supporters set off the necessary fireworks, which will undoubtedly put the club on a new fine from UEFA. In total, the fine pot for Feyenoord this season is already at 124,125 euros.

Arne Slot was not in favor of the fireworks prior to the match. “It’s not that difficult. There is a wonderful atmosphere in De Kuip, in any case at night matches and at European duels. I don’t think fireworks are necessary for that,” said the trainer. “When you enter the field and you see the fireworks, you initially think: how beautiful it looks. But the next thought is: it costs us a lot of money. to make it a phenomenal evening. It’s a waste of money.”
