In 2022, football players and clubs are more active than ever on social media. Top players such as Lionel Messi, Memphis Depay, Cristiano Ronaldo, Robert Lewandowski and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, as well as national and international clubs, provide an insight into the ins and outs (almost) daily via Instagram, Twitter or other internet channels. Voetbalzone lists the craziest, most beautiful and most striking posts on social media in the VZ Social section.

The Feyenoord selection said goodbye to the Stade Vélodrome in a playful way on Thursday evening. A photo shows how the Rotterdammers show with a wink on a flipchart what they remember from the French lessons during their school days. ‘Aw revoir!’ is written at the top of the board, after which the players politely thank the French. “Thanks.” Whether they thank them for the placement for the final or for the hospitality is not clear from the text. Then the text becomes a bit more playful and the following is written: ‘Je m’appelle croissant’.

The players close with the text: ‘J’habit a Rotterdam, 010’. Incidentally, the Feyenoord selection was complimented by the person who took the photo of the fully scribbled board with the tidy dressing room. “J’ai jamais vu un vestiaire aussi propre les lendemains de match”, the man wrote, meaning ‘I have never seen such a clean changing room the day after a match’. Feyenoord then gave themselves ‘douze points’ in response, or twelve points for the way in which the Marseille dressing room was left behind.

Feyenoord qualified for the final of the Conference League on Thursday evening by keeping Olympique Marseille in France in a goalless draw. After last week’s 3-2 home win, that was enough for the Rotterdam team to continue their conversion. Feyenoord will cross swords with AS Roma on 25 May in Tirana. The winner can call himself the first Conference League winner ever. The tournament will take place this year for the first time and is the third European tournament for club teams, next to the Champions League and the Europa League.
