Alex Telles will be on a rental basis for Sevilla in the coming season, the Spanish club and Manchester United report via the official channels. According to transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano, the LaLiga club will pay two million euros from the salary of the Brazilian left back. Sevilla has not been able to negotiate an option to buy, but Telles does have an expiring contract with United that was not extended before the lease deal was concluded. In the past two seasons, Telles never really proved himself in Manchester.

Before coming to United, Telles played no fewer than 194 appearances for Porto, racking up fantastic stats. Telles scored 26 goals and provided no less than 57 assists for the Portuguese club. As a result, United became convinced and paid fifteen million euros for the left leg in October 2020. Since then, Telles has played 50 official games for the club, scoring once and providing eight assists.

Telles’ departure means good news for Tyrell Malacia. The 29-year-old Brazilian was a potential competitor for the Feyenoord back. Meanwhile, Malacia only has to compete with Luke Shaw for a starting spot. That is a formidable competitor, because the Englishman will certainly not make an outgoing transfer and has played at least twenty times a year as a basic player in recent seasons. He also came to 21 caps for England. Shaw was acquired from Southampton in July 2014 for €37.5 million.

Still expected Manchester Evening News Malacia may start in the starting line-up during the season opener against Brighton & Hove Albion next Saturday. The 22-year-old defender played a great match in the 0-1 lost practice match against Atlético Madrid. The regional newspaper gave Malacia an 8 for his performance. “He is strong in possession and kept cool when playing under pressure. He deserves to start against Brighton next week.” Erik ten Hag has also expressed himself positively about Malacia several times in the English media.
