Dirk Kuyt has access to attackers Thomas Verheydt and Ricardo Kishna in the Kitchen Champion Division match against Roda JC on Wednesday evening. The troubled trainer gave general manager Edwin Reijntjes an ultimatum to reverse the intended suspension of the two. If he did not agree, Kuyt would not take a seat on the bench.
reported Tuesday night Broadcasting West that Verheydt and Kishna had submitted a transfer request to ADO Den Haag. The duo stated in a statement that they no longer agree with the current state of affairs and were also disturbed by Reijntjes’ performance. The departure of technical manager Daryl Janmaat was also not well received. According to Janmaat, he would receive internal guidance in his new position, but in practice this did not materialise. He also did not get any leeway from Reijntjes. Following the statement by Verheydt and Kishna, the director wanted to remove them from the selection.
This was again against Kuyt’s sore leg and he gave his director an ultimatum. The ADO player group also rallied behind Kuyt, Verheydt and Kishna. Earlier, Reijntjes had just put his trainer in front of the block and he awarded Kuyt two duels to turn the tide. Last Friday there was a draw at Telstar (0-0) and the second ‘future-determining match’ will be played in-house against Roda JC on Wednesday evening.
Kuyt has refused to comment on the current situation and said he wants to focus on meeting the Limburgers. Depending on the result, a decision will be made about the trainer’s job. In the corridors, the name of ex-ADO player Danny Buijs is mentioned. He was fired from KV Mechelen last month. ADO is in sixteenth place in the Kitchen Champion Division with sixteen points from fifteen games. Roda is in ninth place with 21 points with the same number of games played.
