Donny van Iperen is in a critical condition in a coma. His club FC Zimbru reports this in a statement on Facebook. On Sunday FC Zimbru reported that he was in stable condition, but his Moldovan club has come back to that. The central defender has been in hospital in the capital Chisinau since Saturday after he was knocked unconscious in a collision with opponent Dinamo-Auto’s goalkeeper.

FC Zimbru subsequently reported that the 27-year-old former Telstar and Go Ahead Eagles player was still unconscious, but not in life-threatening condition. His club has now come back to that. In a statement on Facebook, FC Zimbru reports the following: “Donny has been treated since Saturday at the Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery in Chisinau. He is treated by the best specialist doctors in the country. In the past two days, Donny’s family arrived in Chisinau, the whole family has been accommodated by the club in the team hotel. Family members are constantly receiving information from doctors and are also in constant contact with the club management.”

Donny’s brother, Joey van Iperen, commented on behalf of the family: “The situation regarding Donny’s health is very difficult, my brother is still in a coma. We pray that he finds the strength to recover. The family is grateful for the support of the club, the fans and everyone involved in supporting Donny We feel you are our family and we would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for the effort and prayers for my brother Hope and Pray that all the help and love will help him to have the strength to wake up. Donny is a soccer fighter on and off the field! And in these moments he proves more than ever how strong he is. Thank you for being with us!” ‘

General manager Sergiu Topor says the club’s expectations regarding Van Iperen have not been fulfilled. “Donny is still in a coma. On Sunday the doctors told us that there were improvements in his health and that gave us hope. On Sunday I found out that he has no brain haemorrhage and does not need surgery. Unfortunately, his health has remained bad since then. , and there are no significant improvements. Owner Nicolae Ciornii has personally asked for the best doctors in the country to save Donny’s life.”
