Club Brugge also has its third game in the play-offs on Thursday evening to not win the championship. Philippe Clement’s team was unable to create a decent chance against Royal Antwerp, which itself did not offer anything in return: 0-0. Yet there is not a man overboard for Club Brugge, which with three games to go is five points ahead of Racing Genk.

At Club Brugge, Ruud Vormer, Noa Lang and Bas Dost started three Dutchmen in the base; Stefano Denswil and Tahith Chong remained on the reserve bench. In the second minute, Mats Rits got the only chance out of the otherwise sluggish first half. The former Ajax player was sent into the penalty area by Charles De Ketelaere, outplayed goalkeeper Jean Butez, but saw his shot blocked by Ritchie De Laet.

Antwerp only made its first shooting attempt after the break. It came from the foot of Dieumerci Mbokani, whose shot was easily stopped from close range by Odilon Kossounou. Club Brugge then had the better of the game, although the opportunities remained extremely scarce. Vormer got half a chance with a volley from inside the penalty area, which ricocheted. After that, the captain of Club Brugge tried with a long shot, which went just wide.
