Manchester City did not make any mistakes in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon. Manager Josep Guardiola’s team was 2-0 too strong for West Ham United at home and thus continues to follow in the footsteps of league-leader Chelsea, which will play against Manchester United later in the evening. Leicester City and Watford (4-2) provided a goal-fest at the King Power Stadium, while Everton went on to visit Brentford (1-0) for the seventh game in a row without a win and sinking further and further in the rankings.

Manchester City v West Ham United 2-1
City usually has little trouble with West Ham and managed nine out of ten encounters with the Hammers under the leadership of Pep Guardiola. In addition, West Ham have only won one visit to City in their last fifteen encounters. This time too, the first chances were for the home team. After eight minutes of play, Kyle Walker fired on the enemy target for the first time. The defender tried with a bang from distance, but shot just wide. Ten minutes later it was hit. Riyad Mahrez knocked out Lukasz Fabianski, but his goal was disallowed for offside. After half an hour of play, the same Mahrez provided the assist for the 1-0.

After an action on the right side of the penalty area, he served Ilkay Gundogan, for whom it was a breeze to tap the ball in from close range: 1-0. The game at the Etihad Stadium was ended by Fernandinho, who found the left corner with a placed shot on a pass from Gundogan. After Bernardo Silva saw a goal disallowed for offside not much later, the visitors did something out of the blue. Manuel Lanzini made an effective effort from about twenty meters deep into injury time and defeated Ederson with an excellent bang from the inside of the left post: 2-1.

Leicester City – Watford 4-2
Leicester City and Watford turned it into a spectacle from the first whistle at King Power Stadium. The home team took the lead after fifteen minutes with a goal from James Maddison, who was able to finish from close range. After Joshua King did something back from the penalty spot after half an hour of play, Jamie Vardy closed the game before half time. First he tipped the ball over the outgoing Daniel Bachmann on a pass from Maddison, after which he extended a corner from the same Maddison on the stroke of half-time with his head in the far corner: 3-1. Watford did do something back in the second half via Dennis, who had a free passage after Timothy Castagne’s sloppy loss of the ball, but had to see how the final chord was for Ademola Lookman. The attacker was able to finish from close range after Harvey Barnes’ preparatory work: 4-2

Brentford – Everton 1-0
Everton are not in the best phase of club history and have failed to win the last six matches in the Premier League. Also visiting Brentford, the team of manager Rafael Benítez remained without points, when Ivan Toney gave the home team the lead after half an hour of play from the penalty spot. After a deflected corner, Andros Townsend fouled Frank Onyeka, after which referee Darren England put the ball on the spot after the intervention of the video referee: 1-0. Alex Iwobi thought for a moment to equalize the score after an hour of play, but his effort was well taken by goalkeeper Álvaro Fernández.

Burnley – Tottenham Hotspur afg.
The duel between Burnley and Tottenham Hotspur has been canceled due to heavy snowfall on Turf Moore.
