Bayern Munich has Saturday evening in of the Classic painfully relinquished a lead. For a long time it looked like Julian Nagelsmann’s team would emerge victorious, but thanks to goals in the 74th and 95th minute, Borussia Dortmund still came alongside: 2-2. Due to the division of points, Bayern and Dortmund remain with sixteen points in third and fourth place in the Bundesliga.

Dayot Upamecano played alongside Matthijs de Ligt in the center of the defence, while Benjamin Pavard and Alphonso Davies covered the flanks. The French right back was preferred by Nagelsmann over Noussair Mazraoui. The latter had to settle for a place on the bench next to former teammate Ryan Gravenberch. Trainer Edin Terzic awarded Donyell Malen, who was still on the bench in the Champions League match against Sevilla (1-4), a basic place.

Where Bayern normally increases the pressure from the first whistle, kept of the Rekordmeister this time during the opening phase. Dortmund could not immediately find a breakthrough in the Bavarian defence, which had to take serious action for the first time halfway through the first act. Malen had a shooting opportunity from the right side of the penalty area, but the shot that followed went through De Ligt’s leg wide. After half an hour of play, Raphaël Guerreiro had the biggest chance so far: the left back forced goalkeeper Manuel Neuer to make a save with a shot from the edge of sixteen.

The score was opened on the other side a few minutes later. After a lightning-fast attack down the left flank, Jamal Musiala reached Goretzka in the penalty area. The latter then convincingly placed the ball in the bottom left corner: 0-1. The second goal came more than seven minutes after the break. Again Musiala acted as declarant and this time served Sané. The winger took the ball a few more steps after a nice cross pass and then rounded off cool-blooded: 0-2.

Halfway through the second half, Bayern had an excellent opportunity for a new goal, but Musiala lacked sharpness in the finish. Partly because of the miss, Dortmund kept some hope of a positive result. The tension returned to the game fifteen minutes before the end, when Moukoko scored the connecting goal. The attacker received the ball from Anthony Modeste and outwitted Neuer in the left corner: 1-2. In the remainder of the match, Dortmund still went looking for the equalizer and Kingsley Coman had to leave the field with a red card (twice yellow). The home team took full advantage of the numerical superiority, because in minute 95 Modeste headed in the 2-2 at the far post.
