Tottenham Hotspur have booked a minimal win against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday evening. Harry Kane was responsible for the only goal of the match after twenty minutes on a pass from Heung-min Son: 0-1. The victory puts the team of manager Antonio Conte three points behind leader Manchester City. Arsenal, which is second with 21 points, will play against Liverpool on Sunday.

Antonio Conte made four changes from last Tuesday’s draw with Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League. Yves Bissouma, among others, made his appearance against his old club, while Richarlison and Ivan Perisic had to make do with a place on the bench. Roberto Di Zerbi made his debut as manager of . last week the Seagulls with a nice draw against Liverpool (3-3). It should come as no surprise that Leandro Trossard, who was good for a hat-trick in this game, could count on a starting place just like Joël Veltman.

Tottenham dominated possession in the opening phase, which led to scoring opportunities for Son and Rodrigo Bentancur. On the other side, the home team also asserted themselves through Danny Welbeck, who saw his shot go just wide. The tandem Son and Kane then took the visitors by the hand. Son seemed to go for an attempt after a corner kick, after which the captain of the Spurs alert reacted by heading the 0-1 from close range against the ropes.

Brighton fought more in the game in the remainder of the first half. It gave the home side some serious opportunities. Lewis Dunk saw his header go right over the bar, while Solomon March shot just a few centimeters wide. Conte’s side managed to regain control of the game in the second company, reducing Brighton’s chances of creating danger in front of Hugo Lloris’ goal. Son thought he could close the game more than fifteen minutes before the end by curling the ball nicely into the long corner. However, due to good steps by Veltman, the attacker was narrowly offside. It could not spoil the joy at Tottenham, because the away win was no longer in danger after this.
