Arsenal to strengthen with Takehiro Tomiyasu, Fabrizio Romano reports. The 22-year-old center defender comes over from Bologna and costs the Gunners according to the transfer market expert, twenty million euros, although that transfer fee can increase by three million euros due to bonuses. Tomiyasu has already reached a personal agreement with Arsenal and will undergo a medical on Tuesday afternoon, after which the transfer can be officially announced.

Bologna paid seven million euros in the summer of 2019 to take over Tomiyasu from Sint Truiden. The Belgian club, in turn, had taken him away from the Japanese Avispa Fukuoka for 800,000 euros a year and a half earlier. The 23-time Japanese international played in Italian service in 64 official games, in which he was good for 3 goals and 3 assists. In it he apparently impressed Arsenal, who pay a maximum of 23 million euros for his contract, which runs until mid-2024.

After Ben White (acquired for 58.5 million euros from Brighton & Hove Albion), Martin Ödegaard (acquired for 35 million euros from Real Madrid), Aaron Ramsdale (acquired for 28 million euros from Sheffield United), Albert Sambi Lokonga (for 17 .5 million euros acquired from Anderlecht) and Nuno Tavares (acquired from Benfica for 8 million euros), Tomiyasu is Arsenal’s sixth summer acquisition.

Romano emphasizes that Houssem Aouar will not be added, despite reports that Arsenal would be in the market for the Olympique Lyon midfielder. The Gunners are currently not interested in Aouar and therefore there is therefore no talk with Olympique Lyon. Hector Bellerín can still leave Arsenal on the final day of the transfer window, as Real Betis is in the market for him.
