It looks like Miralem Pjanic and Samuel Umtiti will just stay with Barcelona for the time being. RAC1 reveals on the final day of the transfer window that the midfielder and central defender will remain, albeit for a reduced salary. Pjanic and Umtiti previously refused to have their contracts terminated, but the duo now agree to a reduction of the annual salary.

According to Spanish journalist Gerard Romero, Pjanic’s annual salary will go from eight million to four million euros, while Umtiti will have five million euros a year left at Barcelona in the new situation. The two follow the example of Gerard Piqué, Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets and Sergi Roberto, who also agreed to a salary reduction. With this, the players want to help Barcelona in these financially difficult times.

Juventus will decide on Pjanic on Monday evening

It seemed for a while that Pjanic would return to Juventus in the final phase of the transfer period. Including the Italian journalist Romeo Agresti and La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that Juventus would make a final decision on this on Monday evening. However, it now appears that Pjanic will remain linked to Barcelona despite his reserve role. The Bosnian midfielder is in the Camp Nou until 2024. Pjanic does not have to count on a base place under coach Ronald Koeman.

SER Catalonia announced last week that Barcelona and Umtiti would continue the collaboration. Previously reported Sport even that Umtiti was nominated to leave the Catalans in the interim. There was even talk of dismissal for the 27-year-old mandekker, which now seems to be no longer an option. The French defender has a contract in Barcelona until mid-2023, although, like Pjanic, he is not a basic player under Koeman.
