Anwar El Ghazi once again proved his worth for Aston Villa on Saturday evening. The 25-year-old attacker had a starting place for the second time in a row thanks to the foot injury of star player Jack Grealish and scored the only goal of the game against Leeds United: 0-1. For El Ghazi it was his sixth league goal of the season. The winger, who usually starts on the bench, is good for a goal every 120 minutes of play in the Premier League this season, the highest goal average of all players at Villa.

The only goal of the match was scored in the fifth minute. After a failed corner kick, Ollie Watkins brought the ball back into the goal mouth from the edge of the box. At the far post, El Ghazi controlled cleverly with the right and then rounded off with the left: 0-1. The attacker then showed himself active and fired three more times at the goal in a short period of time, but was now less lucky in the completion. Aston Villa managed to win the minimal win, without giving away any real big chances to Leeds.

El Ghazi also benefited from an injury to teammate Ross Barkley in December. Then Grealish moved from the left to the number ten position, leaving El Ghazi a spot as a left winger. He then put down a great streak with five goals in five games. In January, however, El Ghazi disappeared from the starting team, because Barkley had recovered and Grealish on the left was preferred over the former Ajax player.
