Ajax will travel to the south of France with 23 players on Wednesday for the crucial away match in the Europa League against Olympique Marseille. Trainer John van ‘t Schip cannot call on Josip Sutalo and Silvano Vos due to injuries. Brian Brobbey, who was missing against Vitesse on Saturday due to physical complaints, is fit enough to travel with us.

Sutalo had to miss last weekend’s Eredivisie match against Vitesse, as the centre-back had not returned to Amsterdam completely refreshed after his last international match with Croatia, according to Van ‘t Schip.

The man marker now appears not to have recovered sufficiently to travel with the selection to Marseille. Sutalo was replaced in the heart of the defense against Vitesse by Devyne Rensch, who formed a center with Jorrel Hato.

Vos is also missing from the match selection for the Europa League match against Marseille. The midfielder made a mistake at the beginning of this month against Brighton & Hove Albion (0-2), which easily opened the score in the Johan Cruijff ArenA.

The absence of Sutalo and Vos is offset by the return of Brobbey. The striker was not fit enough to play against Vitesse, but will travel with the selection to Marseille.

Brobbey was replaced at the point of attack last Saturday by Chuba Akpom, who scored for the fourth league match in a row. Van ‘t Schip may provide clarity during the preparatory press conference on Wednesday as to whether Brobbey is fit enough to start against Marseille.

Ajax is last in Group B of the Europa League with two points and actually needs to win in the Stade Vélodrome on Thursday evening to have a good chance of European wintering.
