Ajax and Jurriën Timber have agreed on a new contract for the young defender. The Amsterdammers will report through official channels on Friday afternoon that Timber has signed an ongoing commitment until mid-2024.

The nineteen-year-old Timber’s old contract ran until the middle of next year, so he has now extended his contract by three years. His new commitment means a next step for the youngster, after he has now definitively joined Ajax’s main force.

Timber, who joined Feyenoord’s twin brother Quinten in 2014, made his debut last season against sc Heerenveen on behalf of the Amsterdammers in the Eredivisie, and also left a fine impression in preparation for the current football season. Last Sunday he came into the field against Sparta Rotterdam six minutes ahead of time.

Recently it was announced that Timber has been assigned the number 2 for this season at Ajax. He will take over this number from Perr Schuurs, who in turn will play with the number 3 released after the departure of Joël Veltman. Timber is after Naci Ünüvar and Kenneth Taylor, among others, the next talent to sign a new contract.
