Robert Lewandowski has already spoken to Xavi more than twice about a transfer from Bayern Munich to Barcelona, Fabrizio Romano knows. The transfer market expert also reports on his YouTube channel that the Polish striker sees Barcelona as the only possible destination, despite interest from Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain, among others. It remains to be seen to what extent Bayern Munich are willing to cooperate in a transfer.
After Lewandowski was in front of the camera of the German sky indicated that he wants to leave Bayern, Romano is now able to report how that departure came about. “It started a year ago when PSG made him an offer as a possible replacement for Kylian Mbappe, but Bayern refused to negotiate. As a result, Lewandowski then waited for a contract proposal from Bayern, but that did not come. That only happened a few days ago, and not in the last ten, eleven months. Lewandowski has always been disappointed in Bayern because of this. He also wanted to try something new. He is ready for a new experience, a new country. That’s why he insists on a new adventure.”
According to Romano, the Polish international’s wish is certain. Despite the interest from Chelsea and PSG, among others, Lewandowski has already decided where he wants to go: Barcelona. He wants to experience what it’s like to play in LaLiga. It depends on Barcelona, because they have to be smart in the negotiations with Bayern. It’s not going to be easy. Bayern has indicated several times that Lewandowski will keep his contract. They want him to stay until June 2023 and there is no intention of selling him.”
“In addition, a replacement has to be brought in before Lewandowski is sold,” Romano continues. “So there is still a lot to consider, but his priority at the moment is Barcelona. There are two reasons for his choice. The first reason is a technical choice, a football choice. He always asks about Barcelona. And the second reason is that he has already spoken to Xavi more than twice. Xavi likes to talk to potential reinforcements, and so does Lewandowski.
