Wout Weghorst did not appear at Besiktas’ training on Wednesday. According to Fanatic the striker does not want to take any risks with a view to his impending transfer to Manchester United. An injury could throw a spanner in the works, so Weghorst is playing it safe.

The last few days have been buzzing with rumors about Weghorst, who would be on his way to Manchester United and already said goodbye to the public in his last league game for Besiktas. The striker himself is already preparing for a transfer, because Fanatic and Fabrizio Romano report that he skipped training to avoid the risk of injury. Weghorst wants to go to Old Trafford at all costs and has decided that he will do everything he can to make the switch. Besiktas has not yet commented on the attacker’s absence.

Weghorst has now received the green light from the Turkish club to make the switch to England, although a condition has been set. The current number five of the Turkish Süper Lig is only willing to let the Dutchman leave if an equivalent replacement is obtained. It is currently unknown whether Besiktas already has a suitable candidate in mind.

Weghorst is still owned by Burnley, who loaned him to Besiktas after last season’s relegation. In the shirt of Kara Kartallar he was good for eight goals in sixteen official matches. United wants to rent Weghorst in the second half of the season the Clarets, but will then have to conclude a complicated triangle deal with both Besiktas and Burnley. It is not yet certain whether United also wants to include an option to buy in the contract.
