PSV has announced the selection that will travel to London for the Europa League match with Arsenal. Noni Madueke, Luuk de Jong and Mauro Júnior are part of the 24-man selection. For the threesome it is the first time in a long time that they can start making playing minutes again. It is not known to what extent the trio has recovered and can count on playing minutes.

PSV will make up for the Europa League match against Arsenal on Thursday evening. The match at the Emirates Stadium was initially scheduled to be played a few weeks ago, but was then postponed due to the death of Britain’s Queen Elizabeth. The return of the three mentioned above is a big boost for coach Ruud van Nistelrooij, as PSV will also play against AZ, Ajax and FC Groningen in the run-up to the World Cup in addition to Arsenal.

Van Nistelrooij expected Madueke back against FC Utrecht (6-1) last weekend, but that game turned out to be too early. The winger has not made any minutes in an official game this season, but could change that against Arsenal. De Jong suffered a muscle injury in August in the Champions League match with Rangers FC (0-1 loss). At the end of September, Van Nistelrooij indicated that the PSV captain needed ‘a few more weeks’ to become match fit.

Mauro was out of the three the longest. The last time the Brazilian made playing minutes was in May in the away match at PEC Zwolle. The defender cum midfielder completely revived last season as a right back under Roger Schmidt. The injury he sustained lasted longer than expected. Mauro traveled to his native Brazil for his rehabilitation, among other things. In total, Van Nistelrooij has 24 players at his disposal. The selection will board a plane to London on Wednesday.
