Remko Pasveer and Kenneth Taylor believe that Daley Blind deserves to be more respected. The midfielder-cum-defender saw his Videoland documentary ‘Never Standing Still’ premiere this week. Blind talks about his heart problems, among other things. Taylor, who is in the dressing room next to the the Dutch international, sometimes finds it ‘intense’ to see how his teammate has to learn to live with the disease.

“On the one hand it is very beautiful and on the other hand it is quite hard, because you see how things can go,” Pasveer says in conversation with the NOS about the movie. “You get a lot of respect for the person Daley. The outside world is really going to see what Daley is like as a person and as a person. The people who often say something about him can now think twice and show more respect for the person Daley. is often forgotten: we are not machines, not robots that do everything right. We also make mistakes. And with these kinds of things you are completely dependent on what happens to your body.”

Pasveer believes that Blind should be more respected in the Netherlands. The left leg is often the first target of criticism when things don’t go well with the team from Amsterdam. Nevertheless, he already managed to become national champion seven times with Ajax and he conquered the TOTO KNVB Cup twice. “You hear how people talk at the discussion tables,” Pasveer continues. “That is not always done with a lot of respect. But seeing this and how he has fought back, then that is just great. Respect for how he eventually came back to this level.”

Taylor also respects the way Blind holds his ground. “I had never looked back at the images of the heart problems at Blind and you have now seen them a few times. That is very intense. It gives you a bit of stomach pain,” said the midfielder. “I’m sitting next to him in the dressing room, there I see him taking his medicine. Then you know it’s really intense. But he doesn’t really show it. That’s really good of him.” Taylor does not like the criticism. “In the end, we are also just people. We are no different from others. That just comes to us. I think people sometimes forget that, yes.”
