Wim Kieft thinks that Arne Slot would do well to exchange Feyenoord for Tottenham Hotspur after this season. He tells that in his column on Friday The Telegraph. According to the former football player, Slot is doing an excellent job at Feyenoord and it is time for the trainer to spread his wings after this season.

Kieft’s column is largely about Thursday’s Europa League match between Feyenoord and AS Roma (1-0). The former striker is impressed by the Feyenoord team. “Slot has put together two teams in two years that are highly successful in Europe. If you put together a team twice with such a limited budget as at Feyenoord that reaches the final of the Conference League and a year later with seven new players reach the quarterfinals of the Europa League with such attractive attacking football, then you do excellent work,” says Kieft.

“After having done the same trick twice at Feyenoord, he now has to spread his wings,” continues the columnist, who then wonders aloud at which club Slot would fit. “Which club dares to take it in England, for example? To play such distinctive football as at Feyenoord with Leeds United or Crystal Palace will be very difficult. Especially because those clubs do not have the financial scope for Slot to trump the top five in England. There are such good quality players around there.”

According to Kieft, Tottenham is the club where Slot could continue his career in a good way. “A club like Tottenham Hotspur would fit perfectly. A big ambitious club with a lot of budget available and historically speaking, Spurs has stood for attacking adventure football and there is always room for creative players. Although the latter were banned by Mourinho and Antonio Conte last season. In London Slot can express his football ideas and he can reap financially.” Slot has been associated with Tottenham for some time, to possibly succeed the recently fired Antonio Conte after the summer.
