Filip Kostic is in the serious interest of West Ham United. The left leg, who caused a furore at FC Groningen in the past, still has a contract with Eintracht Frankfurt until mid-2023 and can therefore move to London for a not too high transfer fee.

West Ham long thought they had a good chance of bringing in Jesse Lingard on a free transfer, but he opted for a contract with Nottingham Forest at the last minute. The Hammers must therefore transfer and according to Sky Sports and the Guardian Kostic has now come into the picture. The Serb, who won the Europa League with Frankfurt last season, can play as a left back and left midfielder and those are exactly the positions where West Ham manager David Moyes is still looking for reinforcements.

It is expected that the London club will not have to pay a high transfer fee to release Kostic, as the 29-year-old left leg has only been contracted to Frankfurt for one more year. An amount of twenty million euros should be enough for West Ham to be able to fish the Serb. The English do have competition, because Juventus was previously linked to the former attacker from Groningen. It is not clear how serious the interest of la Vecchia Signora still is.

Kostic started his career at Radnicki Kragujevac in his own country, after which he was picked up by Groningen for just over a million euros. That turned out to be a golden opportunity, because in the north the left attacker developed stormy and earned a transfer to VfB Stuttgart. The Germans deposited six million euros for Kostic in the summer of 2014. He then ended up at Frankfurt via Hamburger SV, where the Serb has been a fixture for a while.
