Federico Bernardeschi has made the free transfer from Juventus to Toronto FC. The Canadian Major League Soccer club makes this known via the official channels. The Italian international is still awaiting his work permit and will sign a contract with Toronto until mid-2026, which is reportedly equivalent to an annual salary of five million euros.

“We are delighted to join Federico Bernardeschi,” said Chairman Bill Manning. “As a player and as a person, we believe he is exactly what we need right now, both on the pitch and in the dressing room. Federico has proved that he is a champion and a leader at Juventus and for the Italy national team.”

Despite the interest of Sevilla, Atlético Madrid and AS Roma, Bernardeschi decided to opt for employment with Toronto. The 28-year-old winger will become the third Italian in Toronto’s selection, alongside Lorenzo Insigne and Domenico Criscito. With an annual salary of five million euros, Bernardeschi becomes a designated playermeaning Toronto can pay him more than the salary cap dictates.

Bernardeschi has so far played his entire career in Italy. He has played for Juventus for the past five seasons. In total he made 183 official appearances for la Vecchia Signora in all competitions, with 12 goals and 24 assists. With Juventus, Bernardeschi has won Serie A three times, the Coppa Italy twice and the Supercoppa twice in recent years.
