It is uncertain whether Maximilian Wittek will still wear the Vitesse shirt after the winter break. The left wing defender is according to Football International watched by former trainer Thomas Letsch, who currently works at VfL Bochum. Wittek has a contract in Arnhem that runs until mid-2024, but has never made a secret of wanting to play in the Bundesliga. Vitesse could possibly also get players themselves, as Sontje Hansen and Marco van Ginkel are in the interest of the club of coach Phillip Cocu.

Letsch was an attentive spectator in Deventer during the last game before the winter break of Viteesse at Go Ahead Eagles (2-2). The trainer was not only there to see his ex-employer at work, but above all to keep contacts with Wittek warm. The defender is less present than last season, but Letsch has a soft spot for his compatriot. Last season, Wittek was one of the most important players of the Gelderlanders, scoring several beautiful goals in the successful Conference League campaign.

For Vitesse, a sale of Wittek can mean a financial injection. The 27 year old wingback has according to Transfer market a market value of two million euros, although the minimum amount that the club is thinking of will probably be higher. Vitesse could absorb Wittek’s departure internally through Million Manhoef and Mitchell Dijks. However, the former would rather not play in the position of left back, while Dijks has only just returned from a lingering knee injury.

Hansen and Van Ginkel
Cocu’s team is fighting against relegation and is interested in Hansen in the fight against it. The attacker of Jong Ajax does not seem to have to count on many playing minutes in the first of the team from Amsterdam this season. In addition, Vitesse would also look at Van Ginkel, who was already active in Gelredome between 2010 and 2013 and has ended up on the second plan at PSV. The names of Wesley Hoedt (Anderlecht), Brian Plat, Derry John Murkin (both Volendam) and former Feyenoord player Edgar Ié are also mentioned.
