Vitesse remains in sixth place in the ranking due to the defeat, while the team from Deventer climbs to tenth place in the Eredivisie.

The supporters of Vitesse were able to cheer early on Sunday afternoon in GelreDome. The home team took the lead in the third minute thanks to a utilized penalty from Lois Openda, after referee Dennis Higler noticed a clumsy handball from Go Ahead midfielder Jay Idzes after VAR interference. It wasn’t until the 23rd minute that the next chance of the match presented itself. A free kick by Iñigo Córdoba, however, was tapped over the left intersection by Vitesse goalkeeper Markus Shubert.

A minute later, the home side had the opportunity to extend the lead. Eli Dasa shot the ball into the goal of Warner Hahn, after good preparatory work by Yann Ghobo. The latter, however, was able to turn the Israeli defender’s effort out of the left corner. With half an hour on the clock, Marc Cardona still had a great chance to level the team of trainer Kees van Wonderen. After a good pass from Ragnar Oratmangoen, he shot the ball against Schubert, after which Cordoba saw the rebound end up in the side net.

Early in the second half, Oussama Darfalou was able to make the difference on behalf of Vitesse to two goals. However, the striker saw his attempt hit the post, after he first managed to cut Idzes out nicely. After some fumbling by Matus Bero, however, it was Go Ahead who brought the score back into balance, slightly against the balance. Bero lost the ball to Brouwers, who then put Cordoba in front of the Arnhem goal with a cross. The Spanish attacker did not fail and scored his fourth goal of the season. Oratmangoen had the opportunity to give the visitors the lead in the 62nd minute. However, his bet from a corner went into the side net.

Go Ahead then grew into the competition. Eleven minutes before the end, substitute Martijn Berden had an opportunity to give the visitors the victory. However, after a long throw-in, Schubert was alert. The goalkeeper who came out was just a little earlier at the ball than the Berden who had passed through. The fact that there was a winner in the end was due to a foul by Schubert on Berden within the penalty area. Brouwers gave Go Ahead a 1-2 victory in injury time from eleven meters, despite Schubert still coming close.
