Arnold Bruggink thinks that André Onana will soon return to the starting eleven at Ajax. The goalkeeper will serve a doping suspension until the beginning of November, but can then in principle be used again with the team from Amsterdam. Marciano Vink and Hedwiges Maduro, however, do not think that trainer Erik ten Hag will take Remko Pasveer from his starting eleven to give preference to Onana.

Presenter Jan Joost van Gangelen mentions that Pasveer is ‘the most popular player’ at Ajax after the 4-0 Champions League match against Borussia Dortmund last week. “How bizarre is that, isn’t it?” Vink responds ESPN. “One match and it’s: ‘Onana, who?’ It was the big discussion, Onana had to go back. Because without Onana we had no chance in the Champions League. Pasveer kept the game of his life. Now it’s Pasveer before and Pasveer after, all the kids want autographs from him and he’s the best goalkeeper we’ve had.”

“I think Ten Hag will just play with Onana again when he is available again,” Bruggink adds. Vink is surprised by the statement of his colleague analyst: “No, seriously?” Bruggink responds: “I think Erik will choose the best keeper. In principle I would say: really not. But he is there anyway. And if he’s at the level he was…”

“Last time I asked whether as a goalkeeper you also need match rhythm. I understand that he is doing very well in training, but you still need a run-up. I think so,” says Vink. He receives support from Maduro: “The defence, too, they are used to Pasveer. In coaching, that sort of thing. How many goals have they conceded? Two? That good feeling is there. You don’t just change a goalkeeper. Certainly not in the short term.”
