AS Roma continues to perform inconsistently in the Serie A. The team of coach Jose Mourinho suffered its third defeat in the last five competition matches at Venezia on Sunday: 3-2. Due to the defeat, AS Roma remains fifth in Serie A, although Lazio can still beat the city rival later today with a win at Salernitana: nineteen for eighteen points. AS Roma awaits an away game against low-flying Genoa after the international match.

AS Roma, with Rick Karsdorp in the starting line-up, was already behind the facts after 2 minutes and 39 seconds. After a free kick, Mattia Caldara got to the ball before Bryan Cristante and worked the ball behind Rui Patricio: 1-0. However, Mourinho’s team managed to turn things around in the closing minutes before the break, after a bet by Tammy Abraham had already hit the post midway through the first half.

Goalkeeper Sergio Romero saved half on a header from Abraham, after which Eldor Shomurodov cashed in the rebound: 1-1. Not much later the interaction was the other way around: Abraham checked a cross from Shomurodov with his chest, got rid of Pietro Ceccaroni and made his third league goal of the season from a few meters away: 1-2. It was only the first time since February, against Udinese, that AS Roma scored two goals in the first half of a league match.

Venezia, who had only one point in the last three games, got away well after the break when Ridgeciano Haps acrobatic defused a header from Shomurodov on the goal line. An important moment, because the home team took over the game in the remainder of the second half. After a clumsy foul by Caldara on Cristante, Mattia Aramu converted a penalty, 2-2, and fifteen minutes before the end, David Okereke took advantage of carelessness in the Roman defense: 3-2.
