Everton is trying to get Donny van de Beek to Goodison Park in the final phase of the winter transfer period. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Toffees reached an agreement with Manchester United on a rental deal until the end of the season. Everton will pay 100 percent of the midfielder’s salary until June. It is now up to Van de Beek to make the final decision.

With Everton dropping to sixteenth place, Frank Lampard is almost certainly the new manager. The former Chelsea player and coach would like to add Van de Beek to his selection. Romano recently reported that Crystal Palace has good papers to take over the reserve player from Manchester United. According to Sky Sports Dennis Bergkamp has personally contacted Palace to personally recommend his son-in-law. Bergkamp played at Arsenal for years with Patrick Vieira, the current manager of the Eagles.

Everton was already close to a lease for Van de Beek last summer, but that transfer was canceled at the last minute. With the appointment of Lampard, Everton now hopes to have a grip. Van de Beek is urgently looking for playing time, which is not available at all for the midfielder at Old Trafford. This season, under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick, he did not go further than 380 minutes. Romano thinks that Van de Beek, who will be in Manchester until mid-2025, will make a final choice at club level this Sunday.

Manchester United will in any case not cooperate with an option to buy in a rental contract. The club wants to ensure that it will have Van de Beek in the 2022/23 season. Last week reported The Telegraph that Van de Beek has rejected an offer from Newcastle United, because he has no appetite for relegation football. Valencia was also in the market for Van de Beek for some time, but the Spanish club seems to have finally dropped out.
