Jan Streuer is not happy with Feyenoord’s behavior. According to the technical director of FC Twente, Ramiz Zerrouki’s head has been ‘running wild’ by the Rotterdam club. Feyenoord kept hoping for the midfielder to arrive and made an offer with a fixed transfer fee of eight million euros. However, Twente refuses to let Zerrouki leave the Grolsch Veste in the meantime.

“We can’t afford to get rid of one of our best players on the last day of the transfer market. What should we do then?” Streuer wonders aloud to the General Journal. The Twente director understands that Feyenoord ended up at Zerrouki due to various injuries, but the interests of his own club weigh more heavily. “I’m not saying that we are a title favourite, but we are also not inferior to anyone.”

Streuer emphasizes that keeping Zerrouki isn’t just about money. Credibility towards Twente and its supporters is also very important. “How would it look if we still did this, when we constantly said we don’t want to sell?” Streuer therefore understands Feyenoord’s interest in Zerrouki, but according to the director, the way the leader does not deserve the beauty prize.

“I am disappointed that they turned that boy’s head up to the last day,” said Streuer, who indicates that Feyenoord had several opportunities to continue. “In the summer, but also in November, for example, when the winter break came. If an offer had been made that we could not have refused, a completely different situation might have arisen. Now it has been dormant all this time.” Streuer does not expect anything to happen around Zerrouki in the last hours of the transfer market.
