Teun Koopmeiners and Jeremie Frimpong have been included in the Europa League Team of the Year. The Dutch internationals met on Wednesday evening in the final between Atalanta and Bayer Leverkusen, which was won by the Italians.

Koopmeiners once again showed his value for Atalanta in the final. He and his team were too strong for Leverkusen by no less than 3-0, which had already been undefeated in 51 games. Ademola Lookman, also included in the Team of the Year, scored a hat-trick.

No fewer than eight of the eleven players chosen by UEFA were in the final. In addition to Frimpong, Koopmeiners and Lookman, these are Jonathan Tah, Granit Xhaka, Florian Wirtz (all Leverkusen), Berat Djimsiti and Oscar Ruggeri (both Atalanta).

AS Roma, which was eliminated in the semi-finals by Bayer Leverkusen, delivers two players with Mile Svilar and Gianluca Mancini. The Team of the Year is completed by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The striker from Gabon also reached the semi-finals with Olympique Marseille. Aubameyang was also voted Player of the Year in the Europa League. Prize for Talent of the Year went to Wirtz.

For Atalanta it only meant the first European final in club history. Bayer Leverkusen had already reached a European final three times before, but this time they had to admit their superiority.
