Feyenoord supporters are criticized on social media for making unsavory noises during the match against FC Twente. During the first half, spectators imitated the sound of fire arrows. It was exactly 22 years ago on Friday that 23 people died as a result of the fireworks disaster in Enschede. By the way, Twente leads 0-2 after the first half through goals from Dimitrios Limnios and Gijs Smal.
It is not the first time that fireworks sounds are heard in De Kuip during a match between Feyenoord and Twente. In January 2013, Twente already submitted a complaint to the KNVB about the fireworks noises during a duel with Feyenoord. Then the club from Enschede said it had been confronted with the unsavory behavior before. In September 2019, the sounds could be heard again at an edition of Feyenoord – Twente.
Hiss sounds and whole @KNVB speaks shame about it. Fireworks sounds are apparently already quite normal and acceptable. If you can’t create atmosphere, you’ll just make fireworks sounds. #feijenoord #FC Twente

Do I really hear it? Even at a contest for the emperor’s beard some fireworks sounds now and then…. The Legion is often praised, but this has been sad for over 20 years! #feytwe

Nice though! We hadn’t heard before. The fireworks sounds. Poor people there in the cockpit.
