Memphis Depay has responded with a witty tweet to Charles Barkley’s earlier statements. In the run-up to the game between the Netherlands and the United States (3-1), the NBA legend predicted that ‘the the Dutch would definitely get a beating’. Barkley’s statements were picked up worldwide and therefore did not go unnoticed by Depay, who reacts after the victory in the eighth finals. “Lotta bark, no bite”, said the attacker.

Depay states that in America they bark a lot and bite little. The Tweet quickly went viral and has more than 200,000 likes sixteen hours after posting. The Barcelona attacker himself took the opening goal on a pass from Denzel Dumfries. Daley Blind doubled the score just before half-time after an assist from the same Dumfries. The United States briefly came back into the game, but a Dumfries goal ended all hope.
