Ajax wants to break open the contract of Amourricho van Axel Dongen and extend it until mid-2027. Transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano reports this on Tuesday evening. It remains to be seen, however, whether an agreement will be reached between the parties. There is a gap between supply and demand, which threatens a transfer-free departure.

The attacker’s contract expires at the end of this season. Several European top clubs are keeping an eye on Van Axel Dongen and would like to sign him in the summer. The right leg, born in Almere, has been known as a top talent in Ajax’s youth academy for years. Van Axel Dongen even got the chance to make his debut in the main force of the team from Amsterdam under Erik ten Hag. So far he has played in three official matches in Ajax 1, in which he was good for one assist. For Jong Ajax he scored three goals and four assists in 21 matches.

Van Axel Dongen showed himself in front of the camera on Monday Football zone out about his future. “My goal is to succeed at Ajax anyway. Ajax is of course the most beautiful club in the Netherlands and the best club to show you. Right now I’m just busy with myself and trying to keep fit. I just want to play as many matches as possible now, so I’m not super busy with that (his expiring contract, ed.), but of course I just want to stay at Ajax.” In recent years, he has already appeared on the radar of several European top clubs.

For the time being, the focus is on Ajax, where he makes his minutes with the promises. “It’s been a season with ups and downs,” he continued Football zone. “Of course I got injured, but now I’m fully back.” Van Axel Dongen tore his ankle ligament in September. He also had to miss five months last season due to an ankle injury. “For me, the most important thing is to play football and have fun. The rest will take care of itself.” The technician also indicates that he wants to make as many minutes as possible. “I know that if I keep fit, things will work themselves out.”
