Trabzonspor did not make a mistake in the league match against Adana Demirspor on Saturday. In front of his own audience, the leader of the Süper Lig won 2-0 against number ten Adana Demirspor. Trabzonspor, still unbeaten, recorded its eighth win in a row and is 13 points ahead of Hatayspor and Konyaspor, who still have one game left. The season is still long, but at the moment Trabzonspor is rumbling on to its first league title since 1984.

Trabzonspor started with Stefano Denswil, while Edgar Ié (Trabzonspor), Jonas Svensson and Arijanet Muric (both Adana Demirspor) also had three other ex-Eredivisionists on the field. With Marek Hamsík (Trabzonspor) and Mario Balotelli (Adana Demirspor), two world stars from the past also had a base place; Hamsík played the most striking role with a goal in the second half. He received a high ball from Anthony Nwakaeme in the penalty area, took the ball and gave a decisive last tap before keeper Muric could intervene. Hamsík thus made it 2-0.

In the first half, Trabzonspor had already taken the lead via Nwakaeme, who finished in the penalty area in two instances. Out of the turn, he first hit the post, but in the rebound it was hit. On behalf of the visitors, Balotelli was dangerous a few times, but the striker was not happy in the completion. Furthermore, the first half was marred by a nasty clash between Andreas Cornelius and Samet Akaydin, who collided head-on and both bled. Cornelius was unable to finish the match and was stretched out on a stretcher; Akaydin was able to continue playing football with bandages.

In the opening phase of the second half, Trabzonspor asked for a penalty after a game between Hamsík and Svensson in the penalty area, but referee Firat Aydinus did not heed the call. Hamsík’s subsequent goal ensured that Trabzonspor took a comfortable lead. In the final phase, a very precarious situation arose in front of the home side’s goal: after a header from Metehan Mimaroglu, goalkeeper Ugurcan Çakir tapped the ball up, which then bounced off the crossbar and was headed off the line by defender Vitor Hugo. An offside goal by Trabzonspor was disallowed, leaving it at 2-0.
