Tottenham Hotspur supporters who attended last Sunday’s away game against Newcastle United (6-1) will get their money back, the club from north London said. The Spurs were already 5-0 behind after a quarter of a game on a visit to St. James’ Park. The damage could then be limited to some extent, but the worst damage had already been done.

It seemed to be an ear-wash for Tottenham that was unparalleled. Jacob Murphy, Alexander Isak (both twice) and Joelinton ensured that Newcastle had a comfortable 5-0 lead after just 21 minutes. The visitors were nowhere to be seen and were lucky that the score was not higher. As a small cloth for the bleeding, the club announces a small concession on Tuesday.

Supporters who made their way to Newcastle on Sunday can expect the purchase amount back on the account. In a special word on the website, the players address the fans. “As a team we understand your frustration, your anger. Sunday was not good enough. We know that words are not enough in situations like this, but believe us, a defeat like this hurts. We appreciate your support, home and away, and With that in mind, we want to reimburse fans for the cost of their match tickets.”

The selection feels fully responsible for the decline against the Magpies. “We know this will not change what happened on Sunday and we will do everything we can to put things right, starting against Manchester United on Thursday night. Your support will mean everything to us again. Together – and only together – can we make progress.” Tottenham have fallen further behind United with the defeat and need a miracle to secure Champions League football.

The failure against Newcastle led to interim manager Cristian Stellini being sacked by Tottenham. That decision can be called striking, since the interim coach was only responsible for the group of players for a month. Tottenham now opts for Ryan Mason as temporary trainer. The Tottenham selection will therefore have to deal with its third coach of this season. Antonio Conte could not bring the sought-after successes to North London and was fired at the end of March. Stellini had come with Conte in 2021 and temporarily took over the honors.
