Ten years after his iconic goal against Queens Park Rangers, Sergio Aguero has been honored by Manchester City. The Argentine striker unveiled his own statue on Friday in honor of the goal, which gave City its first league title since 1968. Football fans deride the artwork and think it looks nothing like City’s former attack leader. Toni Kroos also makes fun of it on Twitter.

Agüero himself was present at the Etihad Stadium on Friday to unveil the statue. Ten years ago, the Argentine City shot to the first league title since the 1967/68 season. In honor of the iconic moment, the attacker was honored. However, some fans are very stunned and think the image looks more like Kroos than Agüero. “Strange that they asked Agüero to unveil a statue of Toni Kroos!” reads one of the reactions. “Is it just me or does this image look more like Kroos than Aguero?” wrote another fan.

Kroos also reacted to the statue. The Real Madrid midfielder asked for confirmation on Twitter when BBCreporter Simon Stone stated that Agüero was at the Etihad Stadium. “Are you sure?” Kroos joked. Aguero scored 260 goals in 390 appearances for City between 2011 and 2021, establishing himself as one of the best strikers of the Premier League era. Pep Guardiola’s squad is currently on track to claim its sixth league title in the last eleven years.
