Calvin Raatsie is going to leave Ajax transfer-free, you know Ajax Showtime† The goalkeeper has an expiring contract and will not renew his contract. It is not yet known where Raatsie will continue his career. The goalie is reportedly in the interest of several clubs at home and abroad. The main reason for Raatsie’s departure is the lack of playing time.

Raatsie joined Ajax’s youth academy in 2013 after coming over from RKAV Volendam. Last February he made his professional football debut with Jong Ajax in the home match against FC Dordrecht. That turned out to be his only game of the season. This year he was twelve times between the posts in the U23 team, of which eleven times as a basic player. Raatsie often has to tolerate Jay Gorter and Charlie Setford at Young Ajax.

This season he was three times on the bench with the A-selection in the Eredivisie, but he did not make his debut. The lack of playing time is reason enough for Raatsie to look further. In March he watched as Ajax switched on with the arrival of Przemyslaw Tyton when a goalkeeper problem arose. Raatsie and Setford were found wanting by the club. The goalkeeper is said to have no complaints about interest. Ajax Showtime reports that the goalie is in the interest of various clubs from home and abroad.

Raatsie is also a youth international for the Dutch. The closing post represented the Netherlands in various youth teams, from the Under 15 to the Under 18. He was the first goalkeeper of the the Dutch Under 17 that won the European Championship in 2019. Raatsie is not the only Ajax player who is leaving on a free transfer. Noussair Mazraoui, Zakaria Labyad, André Onana, Danilo also close the door of the Johan Cruijff ArenA with a declining contract behind them.
