Thierry Henry will remain attached to the technical staff of the Belgian national team for the time being. The Belgian Football Association announced on Monday afternoon that the former attacker will act as the right-hand man of national coach Roberto Martínez until the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Henry also acted as an assistant to the Spanish elector of the at the 2018 World Cup and this summer’s European Championships Red Devils.

Henry left the Belgian squad after the 2018 World Cup in Russia to focus on his career as a club coach. His adventure at AS Monaco was not a success, but the former top scorer soon got a second chance at Canada’s Montreal Impact. Henry decided to leave that club in March this year, because he missed his family in London. Two months later it was announced that he would return to the technical staff of the Belgian formation. At the European Championship, they reached the quarterfinals, where the later European champion with Italy proved too strong with 1-2.
