According to PSV coach Peter Bosz, the news of Sergiño Dest's injury hit the Eindhoven team hard, as the coach explained during Wednesday's press conference. In addition, the coach confirmed that Ismael Saibari and Ricardo Pepi can make their return against SC Heerenveen on Thursday evening.

Dest is likely to be sidelined for the rest of the calendar year with a serious knee injury. The 23-year-old American sustained the injury during training last Saturday. Bosz did not want to reveal exactly how it happened.

The trainer did say that Dest will soon come out with his own statement. ''That will happen one of these days. He likes it when he tells it in his own words, instead of me saying it for him,” said the coach.

Despite the long-term injury, Bosz certainly sees a longer stay for Dest in Eindhoven. “It would be good for him to stay at the same club for a number of years from now on. I think he has been able to continue to develop with us this year and I would very much like to keep him with us,” Bosz made clear.

According to the coach, the news hit the PSV selection like a bomb. “We are all devastated, it's terrible,” the coach said during Wednesday's press conference. The sixty-year-old trainer wanted to acknowledge that it was a serious injury.

''He told the group together with the doctor. Then there was a deathly silence. I think that says it all. It is really terrible,” Bosz told the journalists present.

The American full-back's retirement is offset by the return of compatriot Pepi. Saibari also returns after an absence of two months. Both players have fully resumed training and Bosz expects them to be in the selection on Thursday.

PSV can become champions on Thursday evening, provided Feyenoord loses points when they visit Go Ahead Eagles. The Rotterdammers will also be in action on Thursday evening.
