Twelve top clubs have confirmed the creation of a Super League on Sunday night, but Juventus’ statement contains a striking passage that differs from the statements of other ‘founding clubs’. The reigning champion of Italy has added a sentence recognizing the great uncertainty surrounding the project. Italian media argue that Juventus, as a listed club, is obliged to inform shareholders that the arrival of a Super League is by no means certain.

In Italy, twenty words from the English communiqué are highlighted: The Company cannot assure that the project will be eventually successfully launched or predict the exact timing of the project. In other words: “The company (Juventus, ed.) Cannot guarantee that the project will actually be launched or predict exactly when the project will get off the ground.” The phrase is preceded by a statement that ‘the founders will do their best to implement the project as soon as possible’. However, Juventus admits at the end of the statement: “The company does not have all the necessary resources to determine in detail what the impact of the Super League will be on (Juventus’) financial condition.”

In the official announcement of the Super League, a starting capital of 3.5 billion euros was mentioned. The idea is that that amount will be divided equally among all ‘founding clubs’. Currently there are twelve, but that number can still increase. Juventus expects the Super League to be of value to the club and to the football industry as a whole in the long term. la Vecchia Signora also in the statement. AC Milan, Arsenal, Atlético Madrid, Chelsea, Barcelona, Internazionale, Juventus, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur have already agreed to the arrival of a Super League. Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain are said to have refused to participate. The Daily Mail does, however, report that Bayern, RB Leipzig and FC Porto are ready to join the founding clubs.

Champions League
The UEFA executive committee unanimously voted in favor of the new Champions League format on Monday. From the 2024/15 season, the competition will be expanded from 32 to 36 clubs, which will be divided into one large group. Each club plays ten games in it. After the ten matches, a balance is drawn up, after which it becomes clear which clubs will continue to the final phase of the new Champions League. The top eight teams will advance to the knockout stages of the billion dollar ball. Via play-offs, it is possible for the sixteen clubs that follow (numbers 9 to 24) to secure a place for the next round. With the approval of the plans, UEFA immediately counteracts the Super League.
