For FC Twente, a possible transfer from Ramiz Zerrouki to Feyenoord is not an option, coach Ron Jans repeated on Sunday morning at Good morning Premier League. The 24-year-old midfielder has been in the interest of the team from Rotterdam for some time. Hans Kraay jr. outlines Jans that FC Twente might still lose Zerrouki to Ajax this winter due to ‘mismanagement of Chelsea’, since the wandering Londoners are interested in Edson Álvarez.

Zerrouki could already count on concrete interest from Feyenoord last summer, but technical director Jan Streuer lay down for a transfer on behalf of the Enschede team at the time. This winter, the team from Rotterdam hope to bring the seventeen-time Algerian international to De Kuip after all. However, Jans repeats that he does not want to lose Zerrouki. “It’s ready for us, yes,” says the 64-year-old coach. “One week before the competition resumed, Feyenoord reported again and an offer was made. There have never been any negotiations. The offer was just too low.”

“This is not for the stage to get more money,” Jans continues. “We are working on a good season and can even dream about the final score in this competition. Then you don’t sell one of your best players in the winter, do you? We would like to give him that chance this summer, and not now. Now it’s just done: there is no amount. Feyenoord had the chance in the summer. FC Twente said at the time: ‘If you deposit this amount before this date, Zerrouki is yours’. Feyenoord did not want to pay that amount, that is possible. That situation is no longer the case.”

The transfer soap around Ramiz Zerrouki got a new chapter on Saturday evening. TC Tubantia and RTV East reported that the FC Twente midfielder is not allowed to move to Feyenoord and is being held to his contract, but the player himself has, according to 1908.nl decided not to give up. A mysterious Instagram post from Zerrouki seems to say so too. Twente previously indicated that it sees Feyenoord as a competitor and therefore does not want to strengthen the Rotterdam club. Zerrouki himself disagrees, as evidenced by an Instagram Story he posted on Saturday evening. In a photo he can be seen in the shirt of Twente, while he plays against Feyenoord. There is an hourglass.

With this, the Algerian international seems to indicate that he will not just accept Twente’s decision not to let him go. That was confirmed by 1908.nl, which knows that Zerrouki ‘wants to do everything to make the transfer to Feyenoord’. Even an arbitration case is not excluded. Improving your position could be a reason to bring a case if you think you can prove yourself right. “I don’t think it will get that far,” says Jans. “I also know his agent Fulco van Koperen well. I think they are just fine people. I don’t think that will provide a solution either.”

Zerrouki replacing Álvarez?
Hans Kraay Jr. then submits to Jans that FC Twente may still lose Zerrouki this winter due to ‘mismanagement’ of a European top club. “Chelsea has sometimes inquired about Edson Álvarez,” says Kraay Jr. “Imagine: they lose the next two matches and go for Álvarez. Chelsea pays 35 million euros for him, which is then mismanagement by Chelsea. Ajax has lost Álvarez and offers eighteen million euros on Zerrouki, then you have lost Zerrouki”, Kraay Jr. Jans outlines. “That is a nice amount”, the FC Twente trainer indicates. “I would be disappointed, but that is also life in football .”
