Mike Snoei is the new head coach of Telstar, the club from the Kitchen Champion Division announced on Friday. The 58-year-old coach is the successor of the recently departed Andries Jonker, who also acted as technical director in Velsen-Zuid. Snoei, who has signed for a season, also worked at Telstar between 2017 and 2019. He was succeeded three years ago by Jonker, who has since left.

Pruning will not be responsible for the duties of the technical director, Telstar adds to the press release. The technical matters are in the hands of the technical committee of the North Holland club. Telstar hopes for a repeat of the successful 2017/18 season, when they finished in sixth place in the Kitchen Champion Division and were eliminated by De Graafschap in the play-offs for promotion. At the time, Snoei received the Bronze Bull for Best Trainer of the second period and Golden Bull for Best Trainer of the season.

Captain Glynor Plet is looking forward to working with Snoei at Telstar. “We as a group of players were concerned and contacted the club by means of a letter. Unfortunately, that letter ended up in the media. We are happy that there is now clarity and have every confidence in Mike Snoei as the new head coach. season,” said the attacker, referring to a WhatsApp message about Jonker that leaked into the media on Thursday. Telstar’s selection insisted on the return of the departed head coach.

“We can sense that and there is also a lot of uncertainty and uncertainty in the office. Until today (Thursday, ed.) No trainer has been appointed and the names that sing around are asking questions and resistance here and there,” Plet wrote on behalf of the selection of Telstar in the message that has come into the possession of, among others Football International† “This is also because the group neither understands nor supports Andries’ departure. Since it will not be easy for Telstar to find a good replacement, we would like to share our opinion with you.” Plet also emphasized that last season’s disappointing 19th place was not the fault of Jonker, who is said to be open to a return to the club.
