Fenerbahçe has won the first leg in the third qualifying round of the Conference League. At home it was 3-1 too strong for NK Maribor. Sebastian Szymanski was of great value to the Turks, with two assists, while Dusan Tadic scored once. The return will follow next Thursday at 8:15 PM. The winner of the diptych will compete in the play-offs against the winner of FC Twente – FC Riga.

Particularities:
At Fenerbahçe, former Eredivisionists Ferdi Kadioglu and Tadic started in the base, while Szymanski came in at halftime. After an hour of play, the score was only opened when Rodrigo Becão headed in a corner kick from Szymanski. Three minutes later, the Pole was again of great value: he passed the ball hard and low, after which Irfan Can Kahveci could simply tap in. After a nice through ball from Josip Ilicic, Mark Strajnar made it exciting, but in injury time Tadic finally decided the first game with a penalty kick: 3-1.
